NBC and D CEO detail behavioral health report

During a segment last night on NBC 5 News, Reporter Bianca Castro detailed the Behavioral Health Community Needs Assessment Report released this week by the North Texas Community Health Collaborative. The study was also covered by D CEO Healthcare Daily Reporter Shawn Shinneman.

Coordinated by the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation, the Collaborative released the report to detail the striking shortages of psychiatric care beds and behavioral care providers over a 16-county region of North Texas to include Dallas and Tarrant counties.

DFWHC Foundation Director of Research Dr. Sushma Sharma complied the study utilizing the Foundation’s patient data warehouse including comprehensive hospital visit information from 86 hospitals in the region. Additional information was culled from the Department of State Health Services, the Merritt Hawkins Physician Workforce Report and the U.S. Census Bureau.

DFWHC President/CEO W. Stephen Love was interviewed during the reports.
