Jill Benns (l to r), Sally Williams, Winnie Neal and Sarah Towery

Our DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation Workforce Center Director Sally Williams took a road trip to Austin on March 25 to participate in a Texas Board of Nursing Task Force discussion at the William P. Hobby Building downtown.

The event was an opportunity for state healthcare educators to discuss the transition of new nursing graduates to hospitals. Additional local attendees included Jill Benns of Parkland Health & Hospital System; Sarah Towery of Parkland Health & Hospital System; and Winnie Neal from Methodist Health System.

The mission of the Texas Board of Nursing is to protect the welfare of Texas residents by ensuring each person holding a license as a nurse is competent to practice safely in the state. The Board fulfills its mission through projects such as this task force and the approval of nursing education.

The DFWHC Foundation Workforce Center provides services including the Texas Nursing Resource Center to assist schools and hospitals with clinical placements and recruitment. Through educational collaboration between schools and hospitals, the Workforce Center works towards providing the right workforce at the right time for North Texas hospitals.
