Collin County reopens COVID-19 vaccine registration

Collin County announced Friday it would reopen its vaccine appointment portal for any person eligible for Phase 1A, Phase 1B and all teachers. The county had previously announced last month it would pause processing new registrations due to an imbalance of available doses and demand for them. The COVID-19 vaccine waitlist had been shut down with a total of 275,056 registrants. Those individuals were expected to have appointments scheduled by the end of last week.

All people age 50 and above will be able to make COVID-19 vaccine appointments starting today. People eligible to take the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to visit the Collin County COVID-19 vaccine web page for links to the appointment portal and partner agency websites.

Once vaccinated, people are expected to get some level of protection within a couple of weeks after the first shot, but full protection may not happen until a couple of weeks after the second shot.
