The Story

The DFWHC Foundation works collaboratively with hospitals, schools and other community stakeholders to meet the region’s healthcare workforce needs. These collaborations impact the education of healthcare workers, provide understanding of true workforce needs through data and regional tactics that ultimately provide you and your family with better care.

Healthcare Employer Learning Consortium

The Healthcare Employer Learning Consortium is a a joint effort between the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Pathways to Work program and the Dallas Fort-Worth Hospital Council Foundation. It is a cross-functional collaboration of funders, employers and training providers working to create innovative solutions for moving entry-level workers into good middle-skill jobs and ensure employers have a pipeline of skilled and ready-to-work employees.

Collaborative Grant Opportunities

DFWHCF Workforce Center has facilitated collaborative grants with North Texas hospitals and schools developing our healthcare workforce.  These activities have brought together our hospitals, education and community stakeholders to build a strong talent pipeline for our regionThis includes:  

 

  • Department of Labor Apprenticeship Grant partnering with Dallas College 5 year grant training over 7,000 apprentices with 9 healthcare employer consortium members.
  • Economic Development Administration Grant building the North Texas Biotech/Healthcare Industry partnering with Dallas College – Partnering with BioNTX in facilitating an industry advisory group – Biotechnology & Healthcare Industry Alliance of North Texas (BHIANT) and offering workforce development training.   

Centralized Clinical Placement System

Services including the Texas Nursing Resource Center have been created to assist schools and hospitals with clinical placements and faculty recruitment. Through regional collaborations with hospitals and schools, DFWHC Foundation facilitates student clinical placements for the region through an easy-to-use online tool which streamlines the process.  Through regional collaborations with stake holders, we work to provide the right workforce at the right time through the education of the future healthcare workforce.  You will find more information on that regional tool and participation here. 

The Workforce Center provides a forum for collaboration of healthcare workforce issues with 80-plus Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council member hospitals, 15 North Texas colleges and universities, workforce investment boards, chambers of commerce and community partners.  Collaborations include working with local, state and national organizations. The Workforce Center works towards improving the quality and number of healthcare workers in the region and serves as an advocate for issues that affect hospitals.
