United Way and Texas Health Institute speaks to Foundation’s collaborative
Highlighting the March 8 monthly meeting of the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation’s Community Health Collaborative, Jessica Galleshaw of United Way Dallas, Tyler Emler and Pat Cheong of United Way Tarrant County and Camille Miller of the Texas Health Institute provided presentations detailing the efforts of their organizations.
The United Way of Dallas and Tarrant County invests in programs that assist students with graduation, families struggling with poverty, residents accessing quality healthcare and homeless citizens trying to find shelter.
The Texas Health Institute (THI) works on improving the health of the state’s residents. As an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank, THI pursues solutions to accomplish healthcare quality, access, and cost effectiveness.
Past speakers at the Community Health Collaborative have included Dabney Dwyer of the Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions and Marilyn Self of the Dallas Area Agency on Aging.
Coordinated by the DFWHC Foundation, the Community Health Collaborative is made up of 32 residents with expertise in public health, data analysis and strategic planning. The team is working towards understanding health and disease disparities in North Texas while creating plans to promote healthier lives.
