Tanya Lord discusses patient and family engagement with area hospitals

More than 30 attendees were present this morning at the DFW Hospital Council Foundation offices in Irving to discuss plans for a new community-wide Patient and Family Engagement Council. Tanya Lord, PhD, the director of patient and family engagement at the Foundation for Healthy Communities provided the presentation and served as speaker.
A national expert, Lord discussed strategies behind collaborative patient and family engagement to build a centered health care system. Within such systems, patients and families are supported as essential members of the health care team with meaningful opportunities to serve as partners in quality improvement, patient safety and health care design.
