Stopping the flu starts with you – get your flu shot today!

During this time of COVID-19, getting your flu shot has never been more important. With North Texas hospital employees working tirelessly to combat the pandemic, the last thing they need to worry about is a wave of patients suffering from the flu. Simply put, stopping the flu starts with you!

The single best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccination each year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends getting vaccinated as soon as this year’s seasonal influenza vaccine is available. Flu activity typically occurs all year long, but usually peaks in Texas during the cold months in late January to mid-February.

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends an annual flu vaccine for all people aged 6 months and older. Children with chronic health problems like asthma, diabetes, and disorders of the brain or nervous system are at especially high risk of developing serious flu complications.
