Sold out audience turns out for “Beating the Odds of Sepsis” return engagement

Back by popular demand, the DFW Hospital Council Foundation’s educational meeting “Beating the Odds of Sepsis” on May 30 at Methodist Dallas Medical Center attracted a sold-out audience of 130 attendees.

The complimentary seminar was originally held October 27 at the offices of Texas Health Resources in Arlington and was also presented to a sold-out audience.

“This is an important patient safety topic and we are so pleased with the turnout,” said Patti Taylor, director of quality and patient safety at the Foundation. “Numbers of sepsis incidents have increased in hospitals over the past several years and this is our attempt to create awareness and provide education to North Texas healthcare employees.”

Presenters included Kristine Powell, director of emergency services at Baylor Scott & White Health; Joni Padden, nursing informatics specialist at Texas Health Resources; Dr. Maeve Sheehan, pediatric critical care at Children’s Health; Lori Muhr, sepsis clinical coordinator at JPS Health Network; Christopher Philip, manager of quality and performance measures at UT Southwestern; and Cam Brandt, educator emergency services at Cook Children’s Health Care System.
