The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation hosted a concluding “Six Sigma” presentation yesterday at its offices with more than 30 participants officially awarded yellow belts.

The ceremony followed a November 10-11 workshop where eight teams were formed to organize Hospital Engagement Network projects with a focus on improving patient care.

Patti Taylor of the DFWHC Foundation’s Patient Safety and Quality Committee served as official host to attendees from Texas Health Resources, Texas Health Huguley Hospital, Texoma Medical Center, Lake Pointe Medical Center, Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake, Centennial Medical Center, Medical Center of Lewisville and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. Representing Six Sigma was Stephen Griffin who presented yellow belts and certificates to participants.

Six Sigma’s Yellow Belt Certification is a two-day program providing insight into the techniques of improvement methodologies. The training provides an introduction to process management and teamwork while enabling individuals to achieve objectives. Participants gather data and work together in problem solving exercises.
