Sherry Cusumano named vice chair of Community Health Collaborative

The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation announced today that Sherry Cusumano, RN, LCDC, MS, administrative director of community education and clinical development at Medical City Green Oaks, will serve as vice chair of the organization’s North Texas Community Health Collaborative. Cusumano will join Ashleigh Kinney, director of family services and child life at Scottish Rite for Children, who serves as the collaborative’s chair.

“We are thrilled to have Ashleigh Kinney and Sherry Cusumano leading the Community Health Collaborative for the upcoming year,” said Dr. Sushma Sharma, director of public and population health research at the DFWHC Foundation. “They bring extensive knowledge from the hospitals and the communities they serve. They have both contributed significantly to the success of our ongoing behavioral health initiatives, with Sherry serving as Mental Health First Aid Committee Chair.”

Cusumano is the past president of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) North Texas Board of Directors and also serves on the NAMI Texas Public Policy Committee. She was recently appointed as one of two appointees to NAMI’s State Policy and Advocacy Network. Cusumano is also a Mental Health First Aid Instructor and a member of the DFWHC Foundation Mental Health First Aid Subcommittee.

“I am honored to serve on the DFWHC Foundation’s Community Health Collaborative Advisory Board in a leadership role,” said Cusumano. “We have some great community challenges ahead of us and I am looking forward to the opportunity.”

Coordinated by the DFWHC Foundation, the Community Health Collaborative represents 11 area health systems with a strategic goal of improving mental health services, education and awareness while decreasing the stigma associated with mental illness.
