New Collaborative Develops to Address Language Access!

Recently, a new collaborative effort was formed to address hospital quality and safety-language, literacy and disabilities. These significant issues compromise the patients’ ability to understand information related to their healthcare. This new collaborative effort, led by Mina Kini, director of diversity and inclusion with Texas Health Resources, has resulted in the new Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Foundation Health Access and Equity Committee. This committee includes hospitals leaders in diversity and language access to develop regional approaches for culturally and linguistically appropriate services. The committee’s initial focus will surround language access resources to support health literacy for North Texans. We believe this collaboration between hospital systems will lead to the increased healthcare access and equity, resulting in our goal of improved patient safety and quality.
