Leadership North Texas Health Day underway

The North Texas Commission’s Leadership North Texas Class 9 Health Day kicked off this morning at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. The theme for this year’s event is “The Social Determinants of Health,” with 14 speakers and six sessions.

DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) President/CEO W. Stephen Love provided a federal and state policy update to the audience. Additional speakers include David Tesmer of Texas Health Resources; Johanna Brewington of Catholic Charities; Dr. Gary Malone of the Texas Health Recovery and Wellness Center in Mansfield; and Laura McWhorter of Texas Health Resources.

Leadership North Texas is a graduate-level, regional leadership program that recruits, develops and supports stewards of the region.

Class 9 is made up of 33 leaders from across North Texas in a variety of industry sectors including elected officials, municipal leaders, executives from DFW International Airport, higher education leaders and the business community.

Dr. Sushma Sharma, director of public and population health research at the DFWHC Foundation, is one of the members of Class 9.
