DFWHC’s Love urges measles caution during upcoming spring break

DFW Hospital Council President/CEO Stephen Love urged caution over the upcoming spring break involving the measles outbreaks in West Texas and a nearby county in New Mexico during an NBCDFW interview this morning.

“If you look back to COVID-19, there was always an uptick when we had spring break,” Love said. “So, we are concerned with the number of people traveling, especially kids traveling in airports.”

Nearly 230 measles cases have been identified during the outbreaks to include two recent deaths. The Texas Department of State Health Services said in a Friday update that 39 more confirmed cases have been identified. There have been no reported cases in North Texas.
