Dallas Heart Walk announces exciting move to Levy Event Plaza in Irving
The American Heart Association is announcing the new location for the 2025 Dallas Heart Walk. The annual 1-mile or 5k walk is moving from its long-time location at Reunion Tower Lawn in downtown Dallas to the beautiful Levy Event Plaza on the banks of Lake Carolyn in Irving-Las Colinas. Thousands of annual participants are already registering to lace up and walk near the water this year.
The City of Irving is enthusiastic about hosting the event. “We are honored to welcome the iconic Dallas Heart Walk to our community and showcase our commitment to promoting health and wellness in our city,” said Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer. “We look forward to seeing everyone come together with the American Heart Association to unite our community in saving lives.”
Stephen Love, President and CEO of DFW Hospital Council, headquartered in Irving-Las Colinas and board chair for the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce added, “The relocation of the Dallas Heart Walk reflects Irving-Las Colinas’ reputation as a premier destination focused on community engagement opportunities. Anchored by Lake Carolyn in the heart of Irving’s Las Colinas Urban Center, Levy Event Plaza will provide a picturesque setting that will enhance the experience for participants.”
Heart Walks across the United States help serve a vital purpose: to combat heart disease and stroke. This year, the Heart Walk Nation of Lifesavers™ campaign aims to create a community of lifesavers through Hands-Only CPR training and awareness. Nine out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of the hospital do not survive. In most cases, bystander CPR was not performed – wasting precious, potentially lifesaving minutes. Through fundraising, community education and corporate engagement, communities enhance CPR training accessibility, bolster bystander preparedness, increase funding for vital research, and ultimately, save lives.
This year-long effort culminates in the community celebration that is Dallas Heart Walk on October 18th at the Levy Event Plaza. Teams across North Texas are buzzing about the new location and its convenience for their coworkers, families, and friends. The American Heart Association is celebrating the new walk route and the ability to accommodate current and future growth as more people join the mission each year. Walkers can select either the non-competitive three-mile or one-mile route. Both options begin at the starting line at 9 am, but thousands gather as early as 7:30 for pre-event fun where walkers of all ages are welcome, and there is even a dedicated area for furry four-legged walkers.
The Heart Walk is also moving a few weeks out and kicking off in October, closer to fall weather after many wonderful Heart Walks in the lingering Texas heat of September. This annual walk joins other DFW must-do family-friendly events whose 2025 location change will accommodate upcoming City of Dallas construction plans. The Association’s Heart Walks in North Texas, which typically occur simultaneously across the Metroplex from one another, will be on separate days in 2025. The Tarrant County Heart Walk will be on September 20th at the Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth.
Every walker who joins an American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and every dollar donated means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. The American Heart Association, a Dallas-based nonprofit, has been a leading source of health information for a century, and its relentless effort has led to significant medical advancements. They encourage companies, organizations, and community teams across Dallas and Fort Worth to engage by starting Heart Walk teams and making a difference in the fight against heart disease.
