Congratulations to Texas Team!

Congratulations to Texas Team for being named an official Future of Nursing Coalition to Advance the Health of Texans. The Sept. 26 announcement was made by the Center to Champion Nursing in America, an initiative of AARP, the AARP Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. “The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action” is a national project inspired by a two-year study The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health (published 2010 by the Institute of Medicine). The report makes recommendations for changes in nursing roles, their responsibilities and overall education so they can better contribute to improving today’s health care systems. The Texas Team will seek to implement the report’s recommendations at local, regional and state levels. Texas is joining 35 other states selected as part of the action coalition. Organizations within the team sharing leadership include the Texas Nurses Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Many hospitals, schools and healthcare organizations from North Texas are involved.  For more information, please go to the websites of Texas Nurses Association, Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies, Institute of Medicine and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
