“A Farewell” from Eileen Cross

When most folks leave a job, they are either moving out of the area, or perhaps have accepted a position with another company. Leaving through voluntary retirement is another thing altogether. There are mixed emotions. Great anticipation for this new phase of one’s life, a bit of fear of the unknown and even some sorrow for leaving folks that have become a part of your life as co-workers. And…..some of those who have even become good friends.

It is with all of these emotions that I will be retiring on December 30, 2011. However, I have been fortunate to be offered an opportunity to continue to work as a liaison between the Healthcare Human Resources Association and Group One. There may also be a project from time to time that I can assist with where they feel I can contribute.

I think I am one of the few folks here that has actually worked at all three of the companies under the Dallas Fort-Worth Hospital Council. My beginnings were as a temp for Group One in Job Verifications, then with the Council as the Director of Human Resources Services and now as the Workforce Coordinator for the Foundation Workforce Center. Having the ability to work in all capacities has been a experience for me that is not afforded to most.

Since I will be working part time, I have asked the IT Department to give me the ability to VPN in to my files from home so that on short work days for me, I will be able to work from my own computer. Yes, I will say it again; I will be using VPN to access my files. SALLY IS SO PROUD.

I do not have the best reputation for my technological prowess so that is a big deal!!!!!

So, as I say goodbye and move into semi-retirement, I still expect that folks will see me around the building from time to time.

For those outside the Council that I have had the privilege to work with in different capacities, I thank you for our partnerships and may likely see you at meetings here and there.
