In celebration of the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation’s 20th Annual Employee of the Year Luncheon on April 27 at the Irving Convention Center, we are counting down with detail on previous events. For prior articles, see below.

The 7th Annual Employee of the Year Luncheon, themed “Employees – Our Most Valuable Resource,” was held May 16, 2003 at the Dallas Marriott at Las Colinas. In the tragic wake of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster on February 1, 2003, former NASA Space Shuttle Program Manager Tom Holloway served as keynote speaker. Holloway discussed the future of the Space Shuttle program and lessons learned from the recent tragedy.

Award recipients were Matthew Diamond, courier at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas; Kristi Maschal, physical therapist at Arlington Memorial Hospital; and Teresa Roundtree, cashier at Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital. North Hills Hospital CEO Randy Moresi, who retired this past year, served as master of ceremonies.

The 8th Annual Luncheon was held May 26, 2004 at the Wyndham Arlington Hotel. Comedian Steve Rizzo, the popular comic known for his appearances The Comedy Channel as well as the author of “Becoming a Humor Being,” served as keynote speaker.

Award recipients were Esther Guajardo, pulmonary specialist at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital HEB; Sandy Ibach, case manager at Methodist Dallas Medical Center; and Maria Theresa Thornton, office coordinator respiratory therapy at Medical City Dallas Hospital. Fara Lynn Rives, a student at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, was presented the Rex McRae Scholarship by Suzanne McRae.
