Day two of the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation’s 10th Annual Patient Safety Summit is continuing today, with more than 370 attendees present. The overall total for the two days makes the event the most successful in history.

“We’re thrilled by the participation,” said Patti Taylor, event coordinator and director of quality and patient safety at the DFWHC Foundation. “There is a combination of factors at work here, but the speakers and topics have been a great draw. This event has always been a unique opportunity for the hospitals of North Texas to come together in a non-judgmental fashion and share best practices.”

The event started this morning with Britt Berrett discussing “Leading Change by Changing How You Lead,” followed by Leah Finder of The Leapfrog Group with the presentation “The New Economics of Health Care: A Mandate for Patient Safety.” Teresa Wagner of the UNT Health Science Center also presented “Health Literacy.”

Poster abstracts of hospital events and lessons learned were another highlight of today’s event. This year’s Summit is being held in coordination with the Texas Department of State Health Services’ 2017 TDSHS Healthcare Safety Conference.

Poster abstracts were presented today.
